So here we go....
Dec 10th
So... This week... Me and my
companion’s theme is: Our plans all fall through, The gospel's still true.
(Youtube: Tracting in a winter wonderland by Voicemale. Funny song.)
But really - everything fell through
and it has been so heartbreaking. There are so many great people that we are
trying to teach. I know that it will bring the most happiness to their lives;
but something else always comes up. I wish they could have a stronger sense of
just how important this is.
For the sake of not ranting about
the bad that has happened, I am going to leave it at that. :)
One particular less active sister
that we taught this week has really touched my heart. She has always felt
different and ostracized from the ward. But she knows with all her heart that
the church is true and she has a very firm testimony. She is such a sweet
sister (and reminds me so much of you, mom!) and I think that it is the saddest
thing that the ward is not there for her. She is right when she says "I
don't go to church for the people, I go for me." But how sad it is that
the ward doesn't extend that hand of love to her. I love visiting with her :) She's quickly
becoming of my favorites :)
Oh and about the end of the world -
Haha, we actually have a baptism that day! I am super excited. And if it is the
end of the world, which I don't believe anyways, a baptism would be the perfect
way to end it, right? What kind of crazy stuff have you been hearing? It's
funny that I am only a couple states over but I feel like I am in a completely
different world. I don't hear about the same things or even feel like I am in
the same country most of the time.
Ok so a fun story - Last Monday
night we had dinner with the Bishop and his family. I love eating over there
because we all laugh so hard I consider it an ab workout! This night was Mexican
themed. We had tacos and authentic Mexican cookies. A word of advice to all who
will listen: store-bought Mexican cookies are awful. One of them was this
strawberry flavored graham-type cookie with marshmallow stuff on it. One bite
and we were all repulsed. I think only Bishop even finished it, haha, and I
know he didn't enjoy it. I think the funniest reaction was when the bishop’s
wife took a bit and nearly gagging, proclaimed: "This is offensive!"
And my companion and I got to see
fireworks on Saturday! That was fun :) I guess it was the Snowflake Festival.
I'm not sure what all it was, probably just the usual Christmas parade and such
like Canon City does.
Hmmm, this next week is going to be
great. I don't know how yet. I just know that it will be. I will tell you all
about it next Monday. I love you all!
Sister Alexis
