17 December 2012

You know how I keep saying "next week will be better because it can’t get any worse"? Ya, I need to stop saying that.

I'm not even slightly exaggerating when I say ALL of our lessons fall through! It is really heartbreaking. But tis the season for everyone to be busy, right? We had about 20 lessons planned this week. Three worked out. And we picked up two less-active lessons too. Rough. I'll leave it at that.

But we didn't lose hope, despite everything. Believe it or not, I am working on my personal progress again and I feel like I am going to learn and grow from it so much. So right now I am really focusing on long suffering. And honestly I don't even know exactly what that means. But I'm taking it to mean "bear through the trials, stick it out." And that is what I am doing. And I'm doing it with a smile on my face.

We did have a baptism on Saturday. It was definitely the most spiritual baptism that I have ever been to. She is nine years old, but she has so much faith, and she knew exactly what she was covenanting to do when she was baptized. Before we even got through the first line of the opening song, I am a Child of  God, she was in tears - which consequently put her whole family in tears. I was so touched by it because I have watched that family grow for over a month now. They have come so far and now I know that they feel the spirit with them. I was conducting the song so I had to fight back by own tears so that I could continue.

Oh... and while I am on that note. The girl that was baptized  is my cousin!! My companion and I had the opportunity to have a lesson on family history this last week. I had so much fun following lines back as far as they would go. I was so impressed. Did you know that we have several lines that go all the way back to the 1400s? It amazed me. And then I found a huge branch of Molyneuxs (They're on your side mom, not dad's. Grandma's too I think but I don't remember past that). I told the Molyneux family about it and they confirmed that they also have a Duke Lord Molyneux. It made me so happy :) Hmmm... and also I found a lot of people who have their temple work reserved.

So, it's Christmas break now huh? I bet the kids are loving that. :) Are the girls working on the train together as they had planned earlier this summer? What is Caleb up to? Did Grandma and Grandpa get the letter I sent to you for them (I need their addy too).  I hope Christmas is turning out great for everyone :)

I want to apologize in advance that I am not able to send any Christmas gifts home... it's not for lack of money. It's entirely a lack of time. I don't even have enough time to think about what I could do for you all let alone put a package together. But I was each of you to know that I love you more than anything and you are the greatest gift I could ever have.

Hmm... I know I had a really scattered letter today too. Sorry for that. :p hopefully I didn't forget anything.

I love you all!

 Oh! The snow...\

It dumped on Elko over the weekend. Which is totally fine if you  live on a salted, scraped, paved road and/or you have a decent vehicle for snow. Sister Anderson and I have none of the above. It has been quite the adventure. On our way to ward council yesterday we slid all the way off of the dirt road we live on, across another intersecting road and up a short but steep hill - where our car lodged itself and had no intention of moving. We somehow narrowly avoided hitting a street sign that was three feet beside us. We have great zone leaders though who came and pushed us out of the mud/snow mess in their nice clothes.

I foresee us getting snowed in a couple of times this winter... (Assuming I'm still here anyways).
