14 January 2013

This has been quite the week.

We still do not have any investigators which is frustrating. But I have never felt more like a missionary or been busier with teaching appointments. I am gaining a strong testimony on how important it is to reactivate those who have lost their way.  At first even I wanted to focus my efforts on teaching non-members because I felt that that would be a better use of my time. I feel bad saying it now, but I honestly thought that I would rather spread the good news around to those who have never heard it than to those who have turned away from it. But I've repented of that thought :p Everyone is important to the Lord, especially those of His children who once embraced the gospel but are now lost from it.

And some of the people that we have tell the craziest stories! One lady we met actually grew up in the Fundamentalist LDS church, meaning a polygamist community. She has a solid testimony of the gospel however and as a teenager she realized that something was wrong with what her community was preaching. So she got out of it and was very active in the church for many years. Until her husband died about four years ago. She hasn't been to church since then. To be honest, we don't even know if she was ever baptized by the right authority or if she believes her baptism by the Fundamentalists is valid... We will definitely find out. We will see her often.  We also me a lady who must be in her late 60s who is fascinating to me. She gave me some essential oils that should help relax me to ease the headaches. Not sure if it really helps though (I hate the smell, so I don't use it often. I think it has chamomile, rose, and lavender in it... ulg!) She also loves to make jewelry and anything else crafty :) We're definitely friends already! She also is somewhat addicted to video games lol. She talked about one in particular quite a bit. I have honestly never met a 60 something year old who had a video game obsession.

I thought Thursday was going to be a really stressful day because the traveling sisters were going on splits with us. Meaning we had to find enough work in our area to keep two companionships busy all day instead of just one.  But the Lord really did provide the work to be done and I learned a lot from the Sisters who came. Sisters don't often go on splits because until now sisters never had leadership positions.  It was such a great day too. Between all of us we went to three homes we hadn't been able to before and found two more potentials that we're hoping to start teaching soon.

Sunday was frustrating though. Because we saw so many people this last week and we taught so powerfully with the spirit. Several of these people were even in tears because of the spirit. And a lot of them committed to be at church on Sunday... but none of them were there! :( it's so frustrating. But I guess inviting them is all I can do; the rest is up to their agency.

So next week we have lots of lessons planned. All of which are with less-active members. But I believe that that is just as important. Hopefully we can help these people re-find their testimonies and overcome the trials in their lives.

Please congratulate the youth on their mission calls and their perspective calls (Seattle! That's awesome! And please let me know ASAP of anyone else's calls :D)

Love you all dearly!! Have a fantastic week!

Your Lexi!
