Craziness.
And it's still not slowing
down :/ We're over half way through the transfer now and still this is
chaotic. So if you didn't get my letter last week (did you? :s) then
I'll just give you a quick update. Emergency transfers. Several of them.
And it's testing my sanity. An emergency transfer is when President
moves missionaries around in the middle of a 6-week transfer cycle. A
lot of different things can cause it - like illness or disobedience or
just inspiration from President.
At the beginning of this transfer, not only did I lose the best
companion I've ever worked with, I got TWO more AND we moved. Not really
too big of a change. Missionaries get that all the time. But it does
take adjusting.Well, after being together one week, and feeling mostly
adjusted to the new situation, President needed Sister B. to go
to Sparks to help two sisters who were really really struggling. I guess
putting a shy sister with a very-little-English sister in a brand new
area results in a lot of struggles and not much success. However, Sister
B. and I are still STLs (sister training leaders) together. Meaning we still do a lot of
teaching as leaders in the mission and we need to travel a lot to work
with other sisters in our area. And Sister B. isn't in the area
anymore!! :/ it's difficult to say the least. So that left me to stay in
Reno and finish training Sis. Kn. on my own (which is do-able of
course, just an adjustment). It took me about a week to get readjusted
and Sis. Kn. and I were working so well together!
Then we found out Sister K. (last companion) was coming down from Greenville, CA to
stay with us for a few days because her companion (fresh off the
airplane 3 weeks ago) has been so sick that they needed to send her
home. At first I didn't know how Sis. K. and Sis. Kn. would get
along. But they get along so well that it has been kind of stressful to
me. The first night Sis. K. and her companion stayed with us, Sisters
Kn. and K. were talking until 1 in the morning. :s not ok... and I
felt sooo sick that night and had a 6 hour meeting to attend in the
morning. Oh goodness.
Sis. K. companion flew out that morning (not sure if she'll be
able to return :( But Sister K. needed to stay with us until her
new companion came from Elko. At the meeting... I get more news. Sister
Kn. and I are to get a new companion. But not Sister B. A
new trio. Right after I had just gotten used to working just with Sister
Knight. Ah!
Sister B and I did exchanges on Saturday. Meaning Sister
Kn. and Sister K. were left to hold down the fort in Reno.
Stressful. BUT... I was at Lake Tahoe! Doing exchanges with the spanish
sisters up there. I don't speak Spanish at all, but Sister M and I
worked hard through the whole day and I really loved it. She is a
really hard worker and I really love her dedication to the rules. She
just doesn't even question anything. If it's a rule she keeps it. If
every missionary were like that this work would progress so much faster!
Oh, and Lake Tahoe is beautiful!!
Sunday was so hectic. Because Sister K. was still with us. I
really wish that hadn't have happened and after talking to Sis. K.
she wished that too. She already said her goodbyes to the Sierra
Highlands ward three weeks ago. Then going to church where everyone was
excited to see her and sad to see her ago all over again really did a
number on her.
This morning.... Sister K. companion was dropped off and then
we had to hurry to Sparks to pick up our new companion. She is literally
distraught to be here. She was crying when we got there. I might have
been too! she was given three days notice, in the middle of the
transfer, that she was going to be leaving the area she had come to love
to work with two sisters she had never even met before.
I haven't felt my best in several days. Sister
Hermansen thinks it's a combination of stress, hot weather and a virus
that is going around Reno. I can still work through it, it's just
uncomfortable and at times very distracting. I've tried a handful of
different things to cure me but no luck so far :/
I love you very much! I hope everything at home is
going fabulously!! I'm sure it is... other than the weather anyways! :(
It's hot here too but not 110! And no fires here yet.
Please say hello to the whole family for me!!
Love you!
