One of the families in our ward (who I absolutely
adore!) have been amazing missionaries! Brother Van Ry often shares his
testimony with co-workers and has even given a restoration pamphlet to
one of them before. Sister Van Ry jumps at the opportunity to serve others and to
share her testimony. With one particular family she helped them pack up
and clean their entire house free of charge just because she cares about
them, then they asked her what she believes and she pretty much taught
them all of the missionary lessons. She gave them a Book of Mormon and
shared her testimony. Then she told them that when they arrived in
Alabama they would not be alone. That in the church, you always have
family no matter where you are. She called the Bishop of where they were
moving to and set up with him and the missionaries there that a group
would be ready to help them unpack and get settled in. The family is now
learning the gospel and going to church in Alabama!! She's amazing.
Well, this week she invited us to 'happen to stop by' right near
the end of her music lesson with a family she has been sharing her
testimony with. We had met this family once before when they come
to church because the boy played a musical number in sacrament. So when
we were there on Thursday Sister Van Ry immediately invited us in and
told the family that we usually share a message with her and invited
them to join. We shared part of the restoration lesson and talked about
how God loves us so much that he gave us our families and he guides us
through our lives. And about prophets and agency and apostasy. It was
really good :)
Oh! I suppose I should tell you. Transfers were on Tuesday! Sister
G. and I are now working with Sister V. as well. She's a good
missionary :) She's been out just a little bit longer than I have and I
am really excited for all that we will be able to do this transfer cycle
:)
We're working with F. and C. still.
Slowly because they need it slow, but they are definitely progressing.
We're hoping to try to help her read a little bit. We have a less
active sister who is about 24 that is an elementary ed major and she had
a lot of reading material that she loaned to us so that we can help
F. Hopefully getting the less active sister involved will help her remember why she
needs to come back to church. two birds with one stone!! We're still
having a hard time getting another lesson set up with R. Her mom has
been sick and so she is often out of town helping her.
That's kind of the gist of what is going on here.
Obviously there is a lot more than that. I don't think I could write it
all if I wanted to.
Well I love you all dearly! Good luck with the mites...
